German Films and the Academy Awards® (Oscar®)

Die Auswahl der nationalen Beiträge für den Wettbewerb um den Oscar® für den besten nicht englischsprachigen Film wird zumeist von zentralen nationalen Filminstitutionen geleitet. In Deutschland ist German Films für die Vorbereitung und Durchführung der Auswahl zuständig. Die Arbeit ist allerdings strikt auf organisatorische Aspekte beschränkt; im Auswahlgremium ist sie nicht vertreten.

The selection of the national submissions for the competition for the Oscar® for Best Foreign Language Film are in most cases organized by the respective national film institutions. In Germany, German Films is responsible for the preparation, organization and implementation of the selection procedures. In this function, German Films' responsibilities are strictly of organizational nature. German Films itself is not represented in the selection committee.
