GERMAN FILMS PREVIEWS IN POTSDAM

The German Films Previews (GFP) took place this year in Potsdam from July 3 to 6. Every year, German Films invites international distributors and world sales companies that have German films in their program to this three-day trade show to negotiate the sale of new German films for the cinema.

GERMAN FILMS IN CLUJ

The 23rd Transylvania International Film Festival (TIFF) and the associated Industry Platform took place this year in Cluj from June 14 to 26.  Six German productions were screened at the this year's festival. In addition, German Films hosted an industry lunch to network and get to know each other.

GERMAN FILMS IN AUSTRALIA

Together with PALACE Cinema German Films is organizing the annual Festival of German Films in Australia. The festival took place in 7 Australian Cities from May 7 to June 10, 2024. German director Andreas Dresen travelled to Autralia and presented his film FROM HILDE WITH LOVE in various theatres.

GERMAN FILMS AT ODESA FILM FESTIVAL

The Odesa International Film Festival took place in Kiev from 12 to 20 July 2024. In addition to various Ukrainian and international films, the German production JUPITER by Benjamin Pfohl was also shown. German Films supported the renowned festival.

GERMAN FILMS SUPPORTS THE GERMAN FILM FESTIVAL IN MEXICO

The German Film Week, which has been organised by the Goethe-Institut Mexico for several years, is evolving into a festival this year. German Films is collaborating with the GI for this 23rd edition, which will take place from 24 September to 6 October 2024.

70 YEARS OF GERMAN FILMS - A RETROSPECTIVE IN FILMS

In 2024, German Films celebrates its 70th anniversary. As part of this anniversary, we will be reviewing impressive and outstanding German films throughout the whole year in our monthly newsletter - all curated and evaluated by Oliver Baumgarten.
The July movie is from 1980 - the epic adventure-drama FITZCARRALDO by Werner Herzog.

EFP‘s Future Frames partners with the Seville European Film Festival
Five of the ten up-and-coming directors, including Hilke Rönnfeldt from Germany (A STUDY OF EMPATHY), whose short films were presented in early July as part of the EFP programme Future Frames at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival will now be going to the Seville European Film Festival in November (November, 8 to 16, 2024). The Seville European Film Festival will see the five emerging filmmakers presenting their short films in a special screening, followed by film talks with the audience. They are also invited to attend the new industry programme Frame Sevilla, with roundtables, presentations and meetings with investors. German Films is one of the supporter of the EFP programme Future Frames.
