5th Edition of FACE TO FACE WITH GERMAN FILMS: Focus on Writers
FACE TO FACE WITH GERMAN FILMS is going into its fifth year. In 2020 the initiative by German Films, which presents German filmmaking and extraordinary talents from Germany, will focus on six screenwriters and introduce them at a panel during Seriés Mania on March 26, in partnership with Variety.
Created in 2016 by German Films, the FACE TO FACE WITH GERMAN FILMS campaign spotlights some of the most dynamic figures in the German audio-visual and film industry.
Each year, FACE TO FACE WITH GERMAN FILMS focuses on current trends in the industry, so with the ever increasing and already high demand for original stories, what better way than to put screenwriters in the spotlight!
The six screenwriters of the 2020 campaign are:
Jana Burbach (BAD BANKS), Katharina Eyssen (HOLIDAY SECRETS), Hanno Hackfort (4 BLOCKS, YOU ARE WANTED), Bernd Lange (CRIMINAL: GERMANY, DAS VERSCHWINDEN), Rafael Parente (8 DAYS)and Laila Stieler (GUNDERMANN, LETTER TO MY LIFE).
Germany has long been known for it's strong TV traditions (such as TATORT), but is now also capturing international audiences with its high-end series such as BABYLON BERLIN, DARK or DEUTSCHLAND 83/86. Broadcast on new platforms, these series are further proof of the constantly renewed vitality and originality of German series creators.
Simone Baumann, Managing Director of German Films comments on the 2020 ‘Faces’:
“Now in its fifth year, FACE TO FACE WITH GERMAN FILMS is a successfully established format to promote new German talent to a worldwide audience. In 2020 we are casting a spotlight on some of the most sought after people in the film industry today: writers. So this year we are presenting six of the best German scriptwriters and showrunners to the international film community. We look forward to introducing them to you at our Face to Face with German Films events!”
