Cannes Film Festival announced Official Selection

The Cannes Film Festival has announced the films in its Official Selection in a press conference today.

The German production ENFANT TERRIBLE by Oskar Roehler is part of the Cannes Festival Label, which was bestowed to 56 international films.

In his highly anticipated new film ENFANT TERRIBLE director Oskar Roehler portrays the most important milestones in the life of Rainer Werner Fassbinder between 1969 and 1982 and interprets life and work of one of Germany’s most important filmmakers of the last century in a innovative creative form.

It is the story of an extraordinarily gifted and energetic young artist, who’s name just happens to be Rainer Werner Fassbinder and who dreams of making films about the cold-hearted and hardened West German society and the longing of the downtrodden – for respect and love. His cometlike ascent to become one of Europe’s most significant directors goes hand in hand with a psychological and physical decline and finally an early death.

Markus Zimmer (Producer, Bavaria Filmproduktion): „Bavaria Filmproduktion is proud to present two of the greatest German film icons in one film: Rainer Werner Fassbinder, whose work remains influential to filmmakers all over the world and Oskar Roehler, one of the most inventive film and writing talents this country has ever produced. „Enfant Terrible“ is both an hommage to and an analysis of a manic film director, visually stunning and full of amazing performances, lead by Oliver Masucci.“

Picture Tree International
is the world sales company. They will launch the film at the virtual Marché du Film (22-26 June).

The co-production THE FRENCH DISPATCH (US/DE, Studio Babelsberg) by Wes Anderson is also part of the Sélection officielle. Christoph Waltz is part of the stellar cast.
