American Film Market 2020: Digital and new formats
Due to the impact of COVID-19 and the U.S. presidential election, AFM has been postponed and shortened by an additional day (it will now run from 9 to 13 November 2020). The film market will now take place in digital format.
With more than 70+ sessions planned, covering topical issues, the focus will be on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the global film market. The opening panel discussion will be held under the banner The Future of Film. For the very first time, there will also be a film podcast for selected panel debates. A total of approximately 200 participants will be involved in the conference programme (including hosts and speakers).

Simone Baumann, Managing Director of German Films, on the AFM 2020: "AFM is one of the world’s most important film markets, and German Films will be supporting the German sales agents with our joint digital stand. In addition to market screenings of German films, for the very first time there will be a presentation of German works-in-progress along with a presentation by the German animation industry, which will be showcasing 10 of its latest productions. We are really looking forward to these new formats and hope to expand them further in future too."
