The 8th edition of our FACE TO FACE campaign is presenting key personalities from the German film industry to the international film world again. FACE TO FACE WITH GERMAN FILMS - THE FILMMAKERS features a great new range of talents that represent the diversity of German cinema. The creative scope of this year's selection stretches from the screenwriter Sönke Andresen (ORPHEA IN LOVE), actor Welket Bungué (CRIMES OF THE FUTURE), and composer Dascha Dauenhauer (BERLIN ALEXANDERPLATZ), through the director, actor and writer Alison Kuhn (THE CASE YOU), writer and director Reza Memari (RICHARD THE STORK) to director, actor and writer Lukas Nathrath (ONE LAST EVENING) and actor Lena Urzendowsky (FRANKY FIVE STAR).
For the 26th edition of European Shooting Stars, a jury of industry experts selected ten of the most gifted young European acting talents who will be presented to the film industry, public and international press during the Berlinale Festival. The event culminates in the awards ceremony on Monday, Feb 20, where each of the talents will be presented with the EUROPEAN SHOOTING STARS Award.
This year's Shooting Star from Germany is Leonie Benesch.
GERMAN FILMS ABROAD – 2022 FACTS AND FIGURES
In 2022, 462 German films in 77countries generated a total box office of 107 million Euros and were seen by more than 14.6 million cinema-goers around the globe.
Compared to 2021, this indicates a small reduction in box office as well as in audience numbers but still represents a better box office result than in the last pre-pandemic year of 2019.
