THREE STUDENT ACADEMY AWARDS® 2022 GO TO GERMANY!
The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences honoured the winners of the 49th edition of the Student Academy Awards® during a ceremony in Los Angeles on 20 October, 2022. Of the 10 short films receiving awards, three were produced at German film schools. Narrative film awards went to ALMOST HOME by Nils Keller (Gold Medal) and ROOMS by Welf Reinhart (Silver Medal), both films were produced at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF). LAIKA & NEMO by Jan Gadermann and Sebastian Gadow (Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF) won the Silver Medal in the Animation category. While German film schools previously have been very successful at the Student Academy Awards®, this year's achievement is quite extraordinary since US and international films were competing together for the first time in each category. The winning films were selected from a total of 1,796 submissions from 614 film schools. All of the Student Academy Award-winning films are also eligible to participate in the upcoming Oscars®.
